Who We Are
The Stranger Things Initiative Homeless Ministry was started after Naomi Smyth met with Matthew Eremwanarue, founder of Global Light Apostolic Ministries, in November 2025. During that meeting, it was realised that they shared a common call to reach out to homeless people in Derby.
Naomi had previously led three homeless ministries in Belfast:
- Out Of Darkness
- Hope to Help
- Cup of Water
After securing employment, Naomi moved to Derby on 27 February 2026, began her day job on 2 March 2026, and The Stranger Things Initiative Homeless Ministry was born on Friday, 6 March 2026.
The outreach currently runs every Friday night from 11:00pm to 1:00am, reaching people on the streets of Derby with food, essential items, encouragement, and prayer.
